Imagine yourself somewhere in the wilderness at a scenic footbridge, across a stormy river flowing under your feet. The pristine water is surging splashing and bubbling; coming from somewhere and going nowhere. When we want to forget/discard/discount something – we use the phrase “It is just water under the bridge”. That instant of time, as you savor the beauty around you is a flash of the NOW. Once that NOW passes away, it will never return again and is lost forever in the vortex of time that our lives spin around.

NOW as defined in the dictionary is – “at the present time or moment”. My definition is, NOW is a flash of time and space capturing a zillion constantly changing variables. Yes, a similar NOW may happen again, BUT it will not be the same NOW as you just experienced.

We all experience our own NOWs as we go through the trails of our lives. Recognize these NOW moments and savor them as they flash through your life. As you savor these moments, extend the fabric of time and create strong everlasting memories. We would like such moments to extend into days and weeks as we savor them – but they are just NOW moments, and will pass.

What you do not want to feel, is the regret that your NOW moment has passed forever and you either missed it or did not fully experience it.

Everyone has their own NOW moments, qualified by personal values, likes and dislikes, and a host of other individual parameters. Your NOW moment may just be a feeling that you want to express to someone – and for whatever reason you hesitate, and let it pass. Only, to regret it later. It could be an action that you want to take – like expressing an opinion at the moment, making a decision, or hugging your child/family/friend in your NOW moment. Often, other feelings may overtake you like – is it the right/appropriate response? It is OK to rationalize a bit, vs. being impulsive before you immerse yourself in your NOW moment.

What is not OK, is to over-rationalize things and let the NOW moment slip into oblivion. Sometimes let the heart rule, while the head tries to solve complex mathematical equations to decide. Trusting your gut always works. Sometimes, one may try to procrastinate and justify to oneself that they will handle this ‘later’.

But, when you do this, the NOW is gone and may NEVER come again. Live in the magic moment, when you find yourself in one.
