Emotions like the weather,
Come and go; and are ever-changing.
Like the sun, storms, wind, rain and snow,
They come and go, affecting us;
But leave us, unchanged.
JOY is like the sunshine;
It spreads slowly like the rising sun,
Before bursting into sparks of light and warmth.
It also wanes, like the setting sun;
And perhaps tomorrow,
The sun will shine again.
ANGER bursts open like a raging storm;
And the strong wild winds, make their mark.
Often starting without reason, like a fire;
That feeds on unsaid, unseen words.
Anger cannot be easily bottled, once the genie is out;
This storm too will pass, like a blown-out flame.
FEAR and ANXIETY are like dark black clouds.
The sun, stars and bright sky are hidden away,
Leaving us uncertain and unfamiliar;
The unknown, causing heightened emotions.
Often resulting in Sorrow, heavy set and gray;
Quiet, in the sound of darkness.
We live our routine structured lives,
Within interwoven and shifting emotions;
That adds color and contrast, stirring passion;
They elevate our laughter, joy, anger and fears.
Often times, they blow away our societal anchors,
Adding winds to our sails, and light to our lives.
